Plaza Bakery LLC was founded by Cristal D. Spellman, a Chesapeake Native created by Leon and Clarestine Rodgers. Cristal is a wife to Clyde, and mother of two boys, Cirilo and Cameron. She is also the youngest of three siblings Terron, LaShawn, and Catrecia!

Inspired by her love for sweets, in 2018, she conquered anxiety from life changes by creating desserts that her family couldn’t get enough of. Cristal worked for the Chesapeake Public School system for 18 years as an Administrative Assistant and decided to trade in her 17-year career for something that brought her genuine happiness.

In 2020, the passion she had for baking could not be suppressed and she acquired, Plaza Bakery, a family generation business in the City of Virginia Beach. Word of mouth spread all over Hampton Roads about her scrumptious desserts and what started out as a hobby became something so much more.
